Short Life Summary
Ronald Peter Foxton was born in Buxton, Derbyshire on 23rd August 1929.
He attended St Anne’s Catholic School and Kents Bank Boy’s Schools in Buxton then undertook an upholstery apprenticeship at Cantrell’s Furniture store. In 1949 he set out on his 18 months National Service, remaining in the RAF for some time on its completion.
Following his time with the RAF he got a job with Duron Brake Linings, Buxton, where he stayed for the remainder of his working life until he retired in 1999. Throughout his time at Duron, Ronald progressed through the ranks retiring as chief supervisor.
He married Eileen Elizabeth Thompson on 25th September 1954. They had their first child, Lynn Elizabeth Foxton on 22nd September 1955, and their second, Nigel John Foxton on 30th July 1957.
Following his retirement Ronald kept himself busy working part-time at his daughter’s security firm and spent a lot of his free time in the garden as a keen gardener.
Throughout his life, ‘Ronnie’ was a much loved and very popular man amongst his friends, family, and peers. His smile and cheeky disposition would brighten up any room.
He died on 21st January 2020, age 90, at Wythenshawe Hospital, Manchester.
